ลักษณะ :

ไม้เถาล้มลุกอายุหลายปี ลำต้นเป็นแท่งกลม ใบ เป็นใบ ประกอบแบบขนนก มีใบย่อย 3 ใบ รูปรีแกมขอบขนาน กว้าง 1.5-5 ซม. ยาว 4-12 ซม. ปลายและโคนใบมน แผ่นใบหนาเหนียว คล้ายแผ่นหนัง ดอก สีม่วงดำแกมสีเหลือง ออกเป็นช่อตั้งตามซอกใบ ยาวถึง 25 ซม. ดอกย่อยรูปดอกถั่ว ขนาด 1-1.5 ซม. จำนวนมาก กลีบเลี้ยงโคนเชื่อมกัน ปลายกลีบแยก 5 แฉก กลีบดอก 5 กลีบ กลีบบนสีม่วงดำแผ่คลุมกลีบอื่น กลีบข้าง 2 กลีบสีเหลือง รูปไข่กลับ กลีบคู่ล่างเชื่อมกันสีเหลือง ส่วนปลายเรียวและบิดโค้ง ขึ้นเป็นงวง ผล เป็นฝักแบนรูปขอบขนาน กว้าง 0.8-1 ซม. ยาว 5-8 ซม. มีขนและปลายเรียวแหลม เมล็ดกลมขนาดเล็ก

Characteristics :

Perennial, herbaceous climber. Leaves compound, trifoliate, elliptic-oblong, 4-12 cm long by 1.5-5 cm broad; base and apex obtuse, coriaceous. Inflorescence axillary, up to 25 cm long. Flowers purplish-black with partial yellow, pea-shaped, 1-1.5 cm across; calyx united, splitting into 5 segments; petals 5; standard purplish-black, expanded and covered almost the whole flower; wings 2, yellow, obovate; keels fused, boat-shaped, apex curved. Pod flat, oblong, 5-8 cm long by 0.8-1 cm wide, hairy, apex beaked. Seeds small, rounded.

พบตั้งแต่เมียนม่าห์ ถึงภูมิภาค อินโดจีน ขึ้นตามป่าผลัดใบ มักใช้ลำต้นเลื้อยพันต้นไม้อื่น ออกดอก และติดผลระหว่างเดือนกันยายน-มกราคม

Distribution :

Myanmar to Indochina. In Thailand, through-out deciduous forests, twining itself on trees. Flowering and fruiting from September to January.
